Game Changer: Plant Proteins for Athletes

Increnovo

In a cooperation of eight different universities on three different continents (Europe, North and South America), Increnovo has studied how to use plant proteins as effectively as animal proteins to improve body composition (more muscle mass, less fat mass) and performance (strength, power) in athletes and active people. In five different human clinical studies they have investigated different plant proteins (rice, pea, Axiom Foods, CA, USA) with or without the addition of digestive enzymes or probiotics

The effect of LactoLycopene on sperm quality in healthy men (ISRCTN33248724)

Cambridge Nutraceuticals

LactoLycopene is a patented combination of lycopene and whey protein. It is highly bioavailable meaning more of it is absorbed into the bloodstream. A University of Cambridge study showed that lycopene levels in the blood rose between 60% and 100% within two months for people taking LactoLycopene. Another study at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, run by Harvard Medical School, found that it increased levels of lycopene in the blood. LactoLycopene has been subject to research at Cambridge University Hospital and the University of Sheffield Hospital. Published clinical research demonstrates its benefit for cardiovascular health, prostate health and male fertility.

The Metabolic Impact of the Lab4P Probiotic Consortium

Cultech

This project aimed to create a probiotic consortium capable of imparting beneficial metabolic effects in humans. A rigorous screening phase identified bacteria possessing favourable genetic characteristics and the ability to impact upon experimental models of hypercholesterolemia and obesity. These bacteria formed the Lab4p consortium and the first of two human studies showed that six months' daily supplementation significantly reduced bodyweight, waist circumference and blood cholesterol levels in overweight and obese individuals in the absence of any dietary or lifestyle restrictions. The second study in overweight participants showed clear reductions in body weight and waist circumference.
